11:50pm ET: The site is currently down due to a hardware failure.
We are removing the faulty hardware from serving now and expect the site to return in a few moments.

11:56pm ET: The site is now back. We apologize for the downtime!

4:30pm EDT: At this time we have been notified that checkouts using PayPal might be failing.  PayPal is aware and working to resolve the issue.  We will post updates here as we get them.

4:47pm EDT: Paypal has resolved their issue.  At this time checkouts should be functioning normally.

11:30pm ET: From approximately 11pm to 11:25pm, users experienced errors uploading photos to the site. This was due to a configuration error on our side. We found and corrected the problem, and apologise for any inconvenience it caused!

11:00pm ET: For a few minutes tonight the site was slower than normal, taking 10-20 seconds to load for some users. This issue has been resolved now.

4:15pm ET: We’ve been informed by PayPal that they are experiencing problems with their payments system at present. The issue is intermittent and appears when a you try to make a payment.
PayPal are investigating the issue and we will update you as we find out more.

4:31pm ET: The issue at PayPal seems to have been resolved. We will continue to monitor the situation. and provide more updates as they come in.

Paypal have informed us that they are having major issues with their service this morning (starting at 5:10am EST, 10:10 UTC)

As such, you may not be able to complete your checkout or doing so may take an unusually long time.

We apologise for any inconvenience, and will keep you updated with news from Paypal as we can.

Update 6AM EST 11:00 UTC: Paypal have informed us they have resolved the issue. We’re closely monitoring checkouts and it looks like everything is going through OK.

2:19pm ET: This should now be resolved!

2:10pm ET: We’ve detected a problem with our payment provider for validating the credit cards of new sellers. We will be implementing a workaround in the next few minutes. If you receive errors during registration they may be related to this, and should be resolved shortly.

Hey all – we’re going to have the maintenance that we planned for last night, tonight, at 12:00am New York time (here’s what time it will be for you)

We don’t expect it to take much more than 10 minutes or so.

UPDATE: Site back up. 20 minutes, actually, was the full downtime. Thanks for the patience, folks! Now bring on the holidays!

Tomorow around 2:00 AM US Eastern time (6AM UTC) we’re planning on taking a short site maintenance for some database changes to support stability. The entire site will be offline for what we expect to be about 10 minutes, during what is normally our lowest traffic period of the week, in the lowest hours of the day.

(We’d like to get this one done before we get too far into the holiday season.)

UPDATE: We’re gonna postpone this maintenance, to take care of some preparation details. Will let you know soon if we go again!
